CGY-AutoFollow
Require users to follow selected Spaces and profile pages, apply the rules automatically to new accounts, synchronize existing members, and prevent required relationships from being removed.

STEP 1
Use the CGY technical ID and remove any conflicting legacy module.
- Extract the release under
protected/modules/cgy-auto-follow/. - Confirm the folder is named
cgy-auto-follow, notauto-follow. - Enable CGY-AutoFollow and open Configure.

STEP 2
Select the Spaces and profile pages every member should receive.
- Open Required Spaces and pages.
- Select one or more important destinations.
- Avoid selecting obsolete or temporary pages.
YCP tipThe owner of a selected profile is skipped because users cannot follow themselves.

STEP 3
Turn on the rule and decide whether follow notifications should be sent.
- Enable Required auto-follow.
- Leave follow notifications off for quieter onboarding.
- Review the selected-target count before saving.
YCP tipTurning enforcement off later allows users to remove the follows normally; it does not silently delete them.

STEP 4
Choose whether to affect only future activity or everyone now.
- Use Save Settings for new users and future unfollow attempts.
- Use Save & Sync Existing Users to create missing follows immediately.
- Review the completion report for checked, created, existing, and failed counts.

STEP 5
Test the rule using an ordinary active account.
- Sign in as a member.
- Confirm required content appears on the dashboard.
- Open the target and verify the follow state.
- Attempt to unfollow and confirm the required relationship remains.
YCP tipSpace members are already considered connected, so a separate follow record is unnecessary.

STEP 6
Use the status report and logs to identify unusual cases.
- Deleted Spaces and disabled profiles are skipped safely.
- If existing users were missed, run Save & Sync Existing Users again.
- Review HumHub logs under
cgy-auto-follow. - For a legacy namespace warning, uninstall the old
auto-followmodule and refresh caches.
YCP tipThe module stores validated target GUIDs and never accepts shell commands or arbitrary SQL.
MISSION COMPLETE
Your required follows are enforced.
New accounts will be connected automatically, and synchronized users cannot unfollow required targets until enforcement is turned off.
